ABOUT THE CHARITIES

Children's Chance was formed on September 25, 1996 by two mothers who had daughters battling cancer. The organization was started to fill in gaps among the current services provided for pediatric cancer patients and their families. Children’s Chance & our mascot, Zig the Pig, exist to assist children with cancer and their families throughout the state of South Carolina with non medical needs. Children’s Chance raises money to fund a variety of programs to meet the financial, emotional, and psychological needs of the pediatric cancer patient and their families.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation inspires and empowers people affected by cancer.  They believe that unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything.  They provide practical information and tools people with cancer need to live life on their own terms.  They take aim at the gaps between what is known and what is done to prevent suffering and death due to cancer.  They unite people to fight cancer and pursue an agenda focused on prevention, access to screening and care, improvement of quality of life for cancer survivors, and investment in research.

The SC Philharmonics mission is to broaden the public awareness and enjoyment of symphonic music.

They visit and perform for elementary, middle and high school students to help expand educational music programs.  Their  Youth Orchestra program serves more than 200 young instrumentalists.  They are always interested in collaborating with other local arts groups to reach broader and more diverse audiences.
